International Day Against Violence Against Women marks the beginning of the world initiative “16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women” that ends on 10 December, exactly on the International Human Rights Day. Thus, it is emphasized that violence against women is a violation of fundamental human rights.

47.2% of women in Bosnia and Herzegovina have experienced some form of violence by the age of 15, according to a survey conducted by the Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of UNFPA and UN WOMEN in 2013. The most common forms of violence that women encounter are psychological and physical as well as sexual and economic violence.

The activity has been implemented within the project “Promoting Healthier Lifestyles among Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes” and the project ” Men and Boys as Partners in Promoting Gender Equality and the Prevention of Youth Extremism and Violence in the Western Balkans ” implemented by the Perpetuum Mobile Institute in Banja Luka. The projects are supported by the Swiss Government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Austrian Development Agency and the OAK Foundation and implemented with the support of CARE International, Balkans.
