The first meeting of the Working group for drafting the Strategy to combat violence among young people in the HNC was successfully held on Tuesday, 30 August 2016, at the premises of the organization Youth Power.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Cantonal Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, CARE International Balkans, Association “Young psychologist”, SOS Children’s Villages, Human Rights Center Mostar, Center for Development of Youth Activism and our organization.

During the meeting the participants discussed the steps to be taken by all relevant parties in order for the Strategy to be finalized and sent for approval by the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. Non-governmental organizations involved in this Working group had the opportunity to get to know each other better and to present the activities planned for the coming school year. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of HNC has committed to take a leading role in coordinating activities in schools that will be implemented by the above-mentioned organizations. In the next 12 months all implemented activities and their results will be monitored and documented in order to develop a uniform methodology that includes different approaches to all involved target groups (professors, pedagogues, teachers, psychologists, students, parents) and users of different ages (primary and secondary school students). The parties involved are hoping to develop a methodology that will serve as an example for the work in other cantons, as well as in the region.

As part of the activities of this group our organization will implement the activities of the Project “Promoting Healthier Lifestyles Among Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes” that is supported by the Swiss Government and the OAK Foundation and implemented with the support of CARE International Balkans.
