On August 13, the KBB from Pristina marked International Youth Day through an open discussion on preventing violence against young people!

53% of people in Kosovo are under the age of 25, at the same time Kosovo has the youngest population in Europe. But in the research “The Role and Engagement of Youth in Preventing Violence” conducted within the project “Equal Rights for All Coalition” implemented by “Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo”, and based on the evaluation report on the Kosovo Program against Domestic Violence, domestic violence is one of the forms more widespread violence where in most cases children and women are victims of this violence.

So what was a better way to celebrate this day than to attend a discussion event on the importance of preventing violence in the City Park of Pristina jointly with the boys and the girls of KBB?

Boys and girls of KBB together with Mirishahe Syla – Researcher within “The Role and Engagement of Youth in Preventing Violence” research, discussed on the importance of violence prevention, current situation, role, and engagement of youth in preventing domestic violence and gender-based violence in Kosovo. They also shared their experiences of change after joining the KBB and their impact on their communities.

This activity is part of the project “Men and Boys as Partners in Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing Violence and Extremism among Youth in the Balkans” implemented by CARE International Balkans in partnership with SIT and YMCA in Kosovo supported by the Austrian Development Agency(ADA) and the OAK Foundation.
