On 21.06.2023, Center for Research and Policy Making in North Macedonia held the final meeting of the project “Building healthy lifestyle habits of the boys in Gostivar and Gjorce Petrov”, where they shared the experiences gained from the implementation of the project and the results achieved.
Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in St. Macedonia, Robert Dekker, emphasized the importance of practical implementation of the provisions of the Istanbul Convention of the Council of Europe on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.
The director of the pedagogical service at the Ministry of Education and Science, Vangelija Veleva, stated that “It is especially important to pay more attention to the educational component of the educational process, as well as developing further cooperation between institutions and citizens’ associations”.
Vanja Jošić, project coordinator of CARE International Balkans, gave a brief review of the Balkan component of the YMI, noting that “Actually, there are no problematic boys, but problematic behaviors that need to be worked on”.
At the meeting, they concluded that the Initiative for Boys aroused great interest among boys who were actively involved and had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on topics that include gender relations, health and violence.
In addition, the participants agreed that there is a need to expand this program to more municipalities across the country.
We are really proud how YMI project in North Macedonia grown and showed sucessfull results in a short time.
