Program Y workshops go Online across Croatia

May 5, 2020 News

In spite of the Coronacrisis which closed down the schools, youth centres and all those places that bring young people together, Status M managed to bring together a group of young Roma people to keep discussing gender norms, gender based violence and healthy lifestyles.

This type of work has proven to be great because it enables Status M to continue the activities with youngsters that started in an „offline“ world before the coronavirus prevention and protection measures, but also brings together young people from different parts of Croatia in moments of isolation, giving them the opportunity to talk about their feelings, concerns and fears and helps them to endure this overwhelming situation. During each meeting, educators leave participants with enough time to also share with others how they spend time in isolation, to recommend books, TV series and movies, sing and play, and thus help each other constructively spend time.

The group that Status M implements workshops with initially had 6-10 participants, but with the possibility of participating in workshops from distance, the number of participants increased to 15. Workshops are held once a week on the Zoom platform with the help of various online presentation and interaction applications.

The activity is implemented by Status M within the framework of the Young Men Initiative II – The Men and Boys as Partners in Promoting Gender Equality and prevention of Youth Extremism and Violence in the Western Balkans project, supported by CARE International Balkans, Austrian Developing Cooperation and Oak Foundation.
