The fourth Conference “Zero tolerance on violence in schools” was held in Mostar on Wednesday, 24 May 2017. The Conference was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, organization Youth Power and other partner organizations of this working group. The results of an action plan for the prevention of violence and juvenile delinquency in primary and secondary schools in the current school year were presented at the Conference.
According to the Cantonal Minister Rašid Hadžović, the activities were conducted in a way to prevent any kind of violence in schools, and the goal was also timely action in order to warn the children of possible problems they may encounter if they take the path of violence.
Program Manager of the organization Youth Power, Nedim Mičijević said that in schools in which the project was implemented they left a methodology as a tool for further work, with the aim of promoting healthy lifestyles. Baseline and endline studies on the problems that young people face today as well as their opinions on topics such as violence, drug and alcohol abuse, use of tobacco and tobacco products, sexual health and healthy lifestyles were also implemented through the activities.
In addition to the organization Youth Power, another seven non-governmental organizations, Pedagogical Institute of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and Institute for Education of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton have also participated in the various activities and projects.
