Innovative Approaches in GBV Prevention and Healthy Lifestyle Promotion for Young Men and Women.

CARE Balkans, in collaboration with partners Institute for Population and Development, Center E8 and Pepetuum Mobile, successfully organized a five-day Regional Training of Trainers (ToT) on Program Y in Sarajevo. This innovative program focuses on preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and promoting healthy lifestyles among youth, equipping participants with the tools to create meaningful change in their communities.

The training brought together experienced youth leaders and peer educators from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Designed as an interactive and hands-on experience, the sessions explored experiential methodologies and strategies for engaging young people on issues like gender equality, healthy lifestyles and violence prevention.

Participants dived deep into the principles of Program Y and Y peer methodologies, a comprehensive approach to fostering positive behavior change among youth. Trainers shared practical techniques to facilitate impactful workshops, promote critical thinking, and encourage dialogue around sensitive topics like GBV and harmful social norms.

One of the training highlights was the focus on experiential learning, where participants practiced implementing Program Y activities. Through role-playing, group discussions, and feedback sessions, attendees improved their facilitation skills and developed innovative ideas for youth engagement.

The final day of the training featured a psychological session focused on managing stress and emotions while working as a peer educator. This workshop addressed the emotional challenges often faced by educators engaging in sensitive topics. Participants explored strategies for self-care, stress management, and emotional resilience, equipping them to maintain their well-being while educating others.

The training emphasized the importance of collaboration and peer support. Participants exchanged experiences and challenges, learning from one another to create adaptable and inclusive approaches for working with youth in diverse contexts.

The training was implemented within Future4Youth project, supported by Aktion Deutschland Hilft, BAWAG and Marie Ebert Stiftung implemented by CARE Balkans in cooperation with Institute for Population and Development, Centre E8 and Perpetuum Mobile.

Stay tuned for updates as these passionate trainers bring their newfound knowledge into practice, driving positive change across the region!
