Gender Synchronized Life Skills Education in the Balkans

September 17, 2024 Projects

The overall goal is to contribute to the institutionalization of life skills education in the formal education systems across the Balkans, equipping young people with knowledge, values, and skills that foster gender equality, healthy relationships, non-violence, and active participation in society.

The Future4Youth project builds on over 16 years of experience from the Young Men Initiative (YMI), a pioneering gender-transformative program implemented by CARE International Balkans and partners. The initiative aims to introduce and strengthen life skills education within schools and youth settings across the Balkans. By doing so, it seeks to address outdated educational models and help young people develop critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and social responsibility. The project promotes healthier lifestyles, positive masculinities, and inclusive social values. It also supports systemic change by integrating proven methodologies, such as Program Y, into educational institutions and youth structures.

Project will specifically:

  • Implement life skills workshops in schools and youth centers using Program Y methodology.
  •  Support the Be a Man/Youth Clubs that foster leadership, communication, and self-awareness among youth.
  • Implementation of school and community campaigns to promote positive behavioral and social change.
  • Provide capacity building for youth leaders and peer educators to sustain the impact.
  • Organize youth leadership camp and events addressing relevant youth topics.
  •  In cooperation with BAWAG group and CARE Austrioa organize study visit to Vienna for young people.
