Covid-19 crisis has affected almost every country in the world, no one is being spared and it is affecting all aspects of our lives. Movement restrictions and other safety precautions put in place in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic have increased risks of domestic violence; Thinking clear and making reasonable decisions is challenged and the risks of losing control and becoming violent are high.
Crises exacerbate age, gender, and disability inequalities and place people at increased risk of violence especially gender based and intimate partner violence. Furthermore, it is inducing a considerable degree of fear, worry and concern in the population at large and among certain groups in particular, such as older adults, care providers and people with underlying health conditions.
It is our profession to support and accompany men. We know from experience that crisis situations increase the risk of losing control and becoming violent.
