On 30 May 2018, Youth Power, CARE partner organization, held two certificate award ceremonies; first certificate award to peer educators, and then the certificate award ceremony to school counselors. These activities are part of the accreditation of the Program Y – the program that is accredited in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.
After the training of peer educators at the beginning of this year, and after two rounds of workshops implemented in eight secondary schools in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton during the previous period, and within the “Program Y”, on Wednesday, 30 May 2018, Youth Power, the CARE partner organization, held an evaluation meeting. The meeting was attended by peer educators and program coordinators with whom they shared the experiences and gave suggestions for the continuation of the program. The peer educators were awarded certificates for their contribution to the development of innovative approaches to the prevention of gender-based violence and the promotion of healthy lifestyles of young men and women. After the workshops, traditional summer activities for educators – competitions and camps, will be organized.
Also, besides peer educators, the same day certificates were awarded to professional staff; to school counselors from eight secondary schools involved in the project activities. The school counselors, after training held in the second month of this year, together with the peer educators conducted training programs for secondary school students, and thus contributed to the implementation of the project in their local communities.
The activities included: High School of Mechanical Engineering and Traffic, High School of Economics, High school of Economics “Jozo Martinović”, Mostar Gymnasium, High School of Civil Engineering, High School of Electrical Engineering, High School Stolac and High School Jablanica. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, the Institute for Education in Mostar and Pedagogical Institute Mostar are institutions that help the realization of these activities, which are held as part of the accreditation of the Program Y.
This completed successfully educational activities in the current school year. In the next two years, we will continue to work on the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the prevention of gender-based violence.
The activity is implemented within the project “Promoting Healthier Lifestyles among Youth in BiH by Challenging Gender Stereotypes”. This project is supported by the Swiss Government and the OAK Foundation and implemented with the support of CARE International Balkans.
