Fantastic flash mob at the Krajina Square, young people from Sarajevo, Mostar, Zagreb and Banja Luka, huge amounts of emotion and positive energy in one place, in one day! “YOUNG PEOPLE STOOD UP AGAINST VIOLENCE”! We celebrated the Orange Day with dancing, singing, balloons and of course, orange color.
The day was complemented with the conference held at the Youth Center, where we presented the results of the project “Young Men Initiative – Boys and Men as Allies in Violence Prevention and Gender Transformation in the Western Balkans”, supported by the Austrian Development Agency and CARE International Balkans. Special emotions and attention were sparked by the screening of a documentary about Dragan Kisin, member of BMC Banja Luka, for which he was also awarded. The audience did not remain indifferent to the messages of members of the Be a Man Club who stood up against violence.
This story would not be complete if the representatives of faculties, high schools, non-governmental organizations, students, members of Be a Man Clubs from Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka, friends from Status M Zagreb, Perpetuum mobile, CARE International, as well as friends from the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sport in the Government of the Republic of Srpska did not join us.
All attendees were able to participate in the panel discussion entitled “The importance of working with young people on violence prevention”. Among panelists there were social worker and family therapist Mr. Nikola Dorontic, social psychologist Professor Srdjan Dusanic, representatives of schools, as well as members and educators of the Be a Man Club Banja Luka.
The fact that we stood up against violence on Friday, danced against violence, played against violence and released balloons against violence, did not mean that we were not against violence every day. Be against violence every Monday, every weekend, every 25th of every month, every 7th of every month, every day when it rains, every day when you are happy … Every day. Every day is the right day to be against violence!
