Our partner organization from Banja Luka – “Perpetuum mobile – Institute for Youth and Community Development” within the program planned for Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls (November 25) this year, in addition to various promotional and educational activities for young people and due to the limited number of people in one place, focused its actions on visibility in the community, so on that occasion the Cultural Center Banski dvor in Banja Luka was illuminated in orange (orange is a trademark and recognizable sign for November 25).
Passers-by were given specially branded face masks and white ribbons, and Banja Luka residents had the opportunity to write their message on the wall dedicated to women and girls who are victims of violence.
The action was preceded by an interview entitled “What did women say?” with four very successful ladies today, who unfortunately have experience when it comes to violence against women and girls.
After the action, members of the Be a Man Club Banja Luka released lighted lanterns with messages.
The activity was implemented within the project Young Men Initiative II (YMI): “Promoting Healthier Lifestyles among Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes II” and the project: “Men and Boys as Partners in Promoting Gender Equality and the Prevention of Youth Extremism and Violence in the Western Balkans”, supported by the Swiss Government, Oak Foundation, Austrian Development Agency and CARE International Balkans.
