Youth Educational Club Synergy is youth organization which mission is raising awareness among adolescents to be active participants of society in aim of solving the problems.
Be aware that changes are not happening by chance, education is inseparable part of Synergy’s activities and changes of other people are happening, primarily, by changing oneself.
Interactive and educational workshops, trainings and other activities to some extent, succeeded to raise awareness of youth and to learn that empathy is one of the most important virtues. Volunteers and members of our partner organization succeeded to realize the point of the life, by playing many educational games, which the most famous is Living in other skin. Being human and helping others in trouble represents the postulate of volunteers and Be a Man Club (BMC) members in Synergy.
Pandemic Covid-19 is the trouble which affected the whole world. According to the current situation, BMC members and volunteers were included in humanitarian actions of helping to older people. Regarding to the many prohibitions of going out and the violation on human right of free movement for the people older than 65 years old, volunteers of YEC Synergy decided to actively engage and to offer help to everyone who needed it.
Five volunteers and BMC members of YEC Synergy were included in action of helping to older people. The team was available every day, if the help was necessary. The medicaments and groceries were delivered to older people who did not have children or whose children and gran-children live in the other cities or abroad.
When called, five volunteers gathered in front of the YEC Synergy’s office. After that they would go to visit one grandpa or grandma who needed help. Having in mind that the mental health is very important matter for development of people and also one of the campaigns implemented by Synergy, volunteers would have a five minute conversation with older people. The questions How are you? Are you OK? represented overture after which volunteers would start with the action. After order volunteers would divide the roles. Some went to the pharmacy to buy medicines while some others went to the nearest shop to buy milk, bread and other groceries. When finished the job successfully volunteers would give the groceries and medicines to the older people, they would wish a nice day and always were available if the help was necessary.
According to this opportunity one of the BMC members pointed out that it was a great pleasure to participate in humanitarian action: “I think that it is very important to help to other people in trouble, because we cannot know when we could be in their skin. Empathy and humanity are virtues which every human being has, it just need to be founded out. Pandemic Covid-19 made me to realize that some of my loved ones could be in the similar situation, and that they do not have anyone to help them. That was a stimulus for me to be an active participant in this humanitarian action.”
Vision The society where youth has more opportunities and less problems influenced that members of YEC Synergy solve the community problems to create better opportunities for successful development of individuals and society as a whole.
The activity is implemented by YEC Synergy within the framework of the Young Men Initiative II – The Men and Boys as Partners in Promoting Gender Equality and prevention of Youth Extremism and Violence in the Balkans project, supported by CARE International Balkans, Austrian Development Cooperation and Oak Foundation
