Centre E8 and “Be a Man” Club held a public action on 5 December in Saint Sava Grammar School with the goal of familiarizing students of this school with our messages, values and slogans related to the prevention of violence and promotion of gender equality.
5 selected BMC slogans were printed on a large board, while students and school staff had the opportunity to hear about the “Be a Man” Club, to support them and vote for the slogan they liked the most, by leaving colored fingerprints. Also, with this action held within the #REAGUJLJUDSKI (#REACTASHUMAN) campaign, the young people pointed to the great problem of non-engagement, ignoring and generally non-reporting of violence that was happening around us.
The highest number of votes during this action was given to the slogan “I close my eyes when I am kissing, not when someone is bullied”, which young people especially liked.
The other messages were: “If your film snaps (if you lose your temper), you are not a man, but a camera”, “If you hear NO as YES – learn your mother tongue”, “If someone raises a hand on a girl – I raise the alarm!”, “I don’t listen when the class is boring, but I don’t ignore when someone is calling for help.”
This was another of our activities during the 16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women, conducted within YMI – Young Men Initiative supported by CARE International Balkans, Austrian Development Cooperation and the OAK Foundation.
