Youth Education Club (OEK) Sinergija conducted an action in Kosovska Mitrovica on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, where more than 150 young people and hundreds of our other citizens gathered to mark the struggle for the economic, social and political rights of women in our region. The action included a large exhibition of about fifteen women from Serbian history, the world of Serbian sports and Serbian culture, where two curators presented to many present young people the importance of women in our past and present. Additionally, the young people also participated in the building of three puzzles with images of famous women from the history of Serbia, as well as in the filing of complaints and comments on gender inequality in our society, where every young person gave his/her contribution in the Box of Complaints and Comments.
With all these segments of the action, OEK Sinergija has also set up a Creative Corner during this action, where young people could artfully express themselves when it comes to the rights of women in our society through drawing, writing and painting.
In total, five local media covered this activity of OEK Sinergija in Kosovska Mitrovica, while the number of indirect participants could be measured in thousands of our fellow citizens, with a large number of reactions on social networks.
This activity of Sinergija was supported by the donors CARE International Balkans and the OAK Foundation, and the action was organized as part of the project “Men and Boys as Partners in Promoting Gender Equality and the Prevention of Youth Extremism and Violence in the Balkans”. The action was also supported by the UN Population Fund.
