CARE International Balkans partners have organised a joined camp in Batllava Lake from 25th of August to 27th 2015.
CARE International Balkans partners from Pristina (PEN) and Tirana (Counseling Line for Men and Boys) as a part of regional Young Men Initiative project – Boys and Men as Allies in Violence Prevention and Gender Transformation in the Western Balkans, supported by OAK Foundation, Austrian Development Cooperation and CARE Deutschland-Luxemburg have organized a joined camp in Batllava Lake from 25th of August to 27th 2015. There were 8 participants (BMK members) from Tirana and 4 staff, and from Pristina were 13 participants, 9 boys and 4 girls and 5 staff members from PEN organization and CARE International Coordinator from Pristina.
Most of the participants in the camp were from schools that workshops were implemented. Participants were selected based on their active participation in project activities and campaigns. Topics that were covered during the training were: Gender Equality, Violence Prevention, Peer Education and Leadership. As well this was a great opportunity for participants from Tirana and Pristina to get to know each other and create a new friendships.
In meanwhile there were other activities organized like: team building games, sports, swimming, barbeque, secret friend, documentaries etc. During the workshops over gender roles and other activities all members were very active in terms of participating and giving their contributions. Girls presence in the camp actually made boys feel comfortable in confronting gender stereotypes and really helped the discussions.
At the end of the camp, all the participants gave their positive feedback and expressed their joy and happiness for being part of such an opportunity of being part of the camp. They also expressed the desire to have a winter camp this time in Albania.
