CARE International Balkans along with its local partner in Kosovo, Peer Educators Network (PEN) launched on May 15th, International Day of the Family, a campaign for engaged Fatherhood and care giving as part of the Boys and Men as Allies in Gender Transformation and Violence Prevention in the Western Balkans, funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and Oak Foundation.
In addition as part of the campaign launch, additional support was rec’d. from the Embassy of Sweden, UNFPA and UNICEF. The campaign launch included a panel discussion on fatherhood and continued with exhibition about fatherhood in both Swedish and Kosovo society. The panel discussion focused on the importance of fathers’ involvement in child development, family life, and to promote the role of fathers in achieving gender equality.
The panel discussed successful practices and policies to promote fatherhood in Sweden, positive examples of engaging fathers in Kosovo society, and the importance of continued work to influence institutional policies that support and encourage fathers to recognize and appreciate their role.
The campaign continued on 16 and 17 May 2015 at the Square “Zahir Pajaziti” where everyone will be able to attend the street exhibition on fatherhood. More activities are planned in Kosovo over the coming period.
