NGO Youth Power from Mostar has organized educational workshops for members of the “Be a Man Club” from Mostar and male and female students of two Mostar high schools.
CARE partner organization Youth Power from Mostar has organized educational workshops for members of the “Be a Man Club” from Mostar and male and female students of two Mostar high schools as part of the project “Young Men Initiative – Promoting Healthier Lifestyles among Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes” supported by the Government of Switzerland, the OAK Foundation and CARE Germany-Luxembourg.
Together with 300 young men and women from Mechanical and Traffic Engineering High School and Tourism and Catering High School they have learned what gender is and what sex is. Professors of the two schools gave their support by allowing students to use the homeroom classes for their educational workshops.
After being engaged in the workshops male and female students of the first and second grade, who will be involved in this project in the next two years, have the task to demonstrate what they have learned and use the acquired knowledge.
This is just an introduction to what follows in the next period: learning about labeling, violence and violence prevention, prevention of drug and alcohol abuse, etc. We look forward to meeting again with these young people and continuing the work.
