MenEngage is a global alliance of NGOs and UN agencies, including UNFPA, UN Women, CHSJ and Beijing +20, which act in order to engage boys and men in achieving gender equality.
The alliance consists of more than 400 NGOs from sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Asia and Europe, who met in 2004 with the overall aim of partnership working to promote the engagement of boys and men in achieving gender equality, health promotion and reduction of violence at local, national and global level, including a review of the structural barriers to achieving gender equality.
The 2nd MenEngage Global Symposium in India brought together researchers, activists, governments and donors from more than 93 countries. CARE International Balkans was represented by John Crownover with the presentation of “Young Men and Violence: new representations of masculinity in contested societies”.
The Conference was attended by representatives of partner organizations Status M, Zagreb, Center E8, Belgrade, Association XY, Sarajevo and Counseling Line, Tirana, Albania.
