Terms of Reference (TOR) for Translator in Bosnia and Herzegovina / Serbia/ Croatia for translation of Manual KIWI „Kids Welcome Initiative“ from German to English language

Today, CARE is helping vulnerable and marginalized communities in the Balkans through socio-economic development initiatives and by engaging in interventions directed at conflict prevention and peace-building, sustainable livelihoods, gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence.

Project: KIWI – Kids Welcome Initiative

KIWI promotes the strengthening of integration competencies and the development of integration potentials in schools in Germany with students having a migration/escape background. Core elements of the project are: training courses for teachers; teaching materials & didactic concept for student’s workshops; funding program for student’s initiatives; accompanying counselling, monitoring and promotion of parents` involvement.

KIWI project is being implemented since 2016 in Germany, as a result of influx of young refugees from Syria, Iraq and other countries enrolling in German schools.

Role of Translator in Bosnia and Herzegovina/Serbia/Croatia

Description of Services Needed
Translation of the KIWI Manual from German to English provided by CARE International is needed in the order to distribute the Manual into other regions.
The translator will translate 663 translator pages (1 page =1,800 characters with spaces).

The subject of translation (Manual) will be translated chapter by chapter in the period of 6 months, starting on November 6 2017. After the proof reading by CARE of the translated chapter, the Translator/Agency will send request for payment/invoice with the amount for the translated chapter.

The offer should consist of:

  1. Price of translation of the Manual per page A4 format, Times New Roman, Font 12 with taxes included (gross amount). The Translator/Agency is obliged to cover all taxes and benefits as per national law.
  2. Timetable with the expected dates when each of the chapters could be finished, while having in mind that there are 6 chapters and each chapter approximately has 100 translators pages

Timeline
Contract duration: November 6 2017 – April 30 2018

Job eligibility
CARE is seeking for experienced individuals or agencies with indicated experience in translation of educational materials/manuals for teachers and NGO educators working with youth from German into English language. CARE prefers experienced translators who have documented proofs from translation reports, researches, guidelines, manuals and books.

If an individual is applying it is necessary to enclose CV with printed hard copies (or e-documents in PDF format on CD) or active web links that indicates experience described in above eligibility section (translated reports, manuals or books) and indicate price per translated page (gross amount) and propose timeline. If an agency, with offer please send a proof of taxes paid.

Payment schedule
Selected bidder will be paid after the CARE approval of each chapter submitted. The proposal for payment schedule will be part of the Contract.
